Bring Together Youth Summer Programme 2026

Overview of the Bring Together Youth Programme 2026

The Bring Together Youth Summer Programme 2026 brought a new group of young people together to develop communication, leadership and mediation skills, build confidence and make connections.

From the first session, participants began getting to know one another through shared activities and conversations. The programme gave them opportunities to explore how they communicate, respond to disagreements and work together with people from different backgrounds.

BTY Summer Programme is two-week leardning course combining practical sessions, social activity, teambuilding and peace leadership.

Learning through participation

Sessions were focused on cultural mediation, communication, peaceful conflict resolution and emotional resilience. Participants explored how to express their views, listen to others and understand different perspectives.

Working together gave the group opportunities to put these skills into practice. Through the programme, we aimed to help young people develop skills they could use in everyday relationships, education and community life.

Special session on employability skills from Scott Cameron, Career Advisor at University of Dundee, were much enjoyed by the group and reflected that to be successful in pusuing your career you need to know yourself and your qualities.

A memorable visit to HMS Unicorn

One of the summer’s highlights was a visit to HMS Unicorn in Dundee, where the group happened to be on board when Finnie, the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games unicorn mascot, arrived as part of the King’s Baton Relay.

Meeting Finnie was an unexpected addition to the visit and a chance to share in the excitement around Glasgow 2026. The group’s verdict was unanimous: Finnie was “beautiful and cool”. After taking photos together, participants wished Finnie well for the rest of the tour.
